ESCAPE FROM LONDON

‘Escape from London’ is a yoga retreat that takes the form of a concrete occulus, embedded in the River Thames. The project began with a series of early films that document the practice of yoga from a first person perspective, playing on the relationship between interior and exterior yoga spaces.

The retreat is a journey through a series of spaces and walkways to a peaceful environment in order to practice yoga or just to unwind. Visitors are encouraged to walk and develop a sense of calm through the haptic architecture. The building interacts with and responds to the rising tide and controlled flooded aspects within the architecture act as a measure of time spent there and time for reflection.
