GDP and continuous growth as a measure of development is a capitalist construct which is no longer compatible with the challenges of climate change and social inequality we face. Progressive societies are starting to value measures of happiness and well-being as the alternative measure of success. This projects imagines a new Ministry of Happiness and Wellbeing for London, in one of the most prominent of locations, the Serpentine Lake, which signifies the importance of which a progressive new future society might hold such values.

WEAVING THE INEFFABLE
Located within the industrial hinterlands of the City of Leicester, a library is imagined, embedded within the mysterious and bleak micro - cosmos of Soar Island. This shifting, labyrinthine terrain is loosely traced out across the island, guided by the writings of Borges, Eco and Deleuze. Complex interconnecting networks of rooms lure the visitor to endlessly explore the depths of the apparently boundary-less interior. ‘Weaving the Ineffable’ seeks to construct a literate architecture where non-linear structures of space can echo the uncanny structures of the mind
